Driver side PCV boot/grommet: There is a 45° boot that is ALWAYS ripped/cracked, or, too hard to seal up on the valve cover. This is typically a 2002-2008 thing but there are some other year trucks that do carry the issue. CHECK IT AND REPLACE IT IF NECESSARY! You can do this on your own for cheap. Cut a 3 inch long piece of 3/8” hose, remove the cracked boot, and replace with the hose. BOOM it’s done. No tools required.
Passenger side valve cover MUST be vented to the intake duct between MAF and Throttle body. There are a lot of aftermarket cold air kits that do not have a provision for this. You must add this to ensure proper PCV function. (Note: If you have a filter on your valve cover, you will need to be sure no other PCV hoses are going to vacuum, or to the intake duct. This will be considered a leak and will create a lean condition.)
There is a ground wire that is on the driver side cylinder head of all 99-2013 GM Trucks. It has a 15mm bolt on the head, and a 10mm nut on the firewall. DO NOT BOLT THIS TO THE VALVE COVER. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT BODY GROUND! It belongs on the REAR of the cylinder head. Clean it and install it tightly with the proper hardware. Lower on the driver side of the engine block is another ground location. If the engine has been removed, this likely has been moved as well. Be sure its clean and tight

There MUST be ZERO exhaust leaks, all manifold bolts must be installed and tight with a proper seal at cylinder head as well as manifold connection under the vehicle. If there are leaks we will have to reschedule your appointment. Pictured Is unfinished weld on a Vband
When Reading or Writing
The key will be left on for 3-5 minutes on your initial read, and up to 2-3 for flashing revisions. If your battery is old or has shown signs of being aged, a fresh battery may not be a bad option for you. This will save us down time having to stop and charge the battery.
A lot of times this is overlooked, please don't bring your vehicle in for dyno tuning on E. That will only cause down time and can end catastrophic.
